Walks and Hiking

The Ridgeway, chalk path, Wiltshire
The Ridgeway.

Outside of research I enjoy walking. Most recently Joe Dines, Robert Thomas and I walked the length of the Ridgeway, a 90 mile route extending from Ivinghoe Beacon to Avebury in Wiltshire. The path follows a chalk ridge, and is popularly known as ’the oldest road in Britain’. We finished the route in five days, hammock camping in woodland along the way.

A few other highlights include a loop of Cader Idris last summer, and an overnighter at Wayland Smithy long barrow with Preston Lotfi in winter 2025.
